Research memo 1

My hypothesis:
My topic is low self esteem, which is when a person has no self confidence in one’s self. Low self esteem does have a big impact on a student’s life.  It can affect their grades and their social life. They can become isolated and fall in to a state of depression, then if nothing is done, suicide. The respondents will agree about how low self esteem has a big impact on a student's life and what it can lead to.
My Context:
My target audience was adolescents in high school between the ages 14 thru 18. I choose these respondents because that is the age range where they are most affected by low self esteem.  My results are reliable because none of my questions were left blank. My questions were sound; they had a choice of not being sure of the answer.

Data Analysis:
In my data, I noticed three findings or patterns with all of my results on the survey. My first finding was about, what should be done about low self esteem; the majority of the males said that they would talk to a friend then go to a therapist or talk to an adult. They probably felt this way because they feel like they can trust their friends and can tell them anything. The majority of the females said they would talk to a therapist rather than talk to a friend or an adult.  They probably said this because they feel like they rather talk to some they don't know because girls talk and spread rumors. The second finding was that both male and females agreed, low self esteem can lead to server depression, self harming, and suicide.  My third finding was, more females knew someone who has low self esteem than the males. They felt this way because girls have a tendency of having low self esteem then boys because girls have this thing that they NEED to look their best and act THE BEST.

Conclusion:
In my hypothesis, I stated that the respondents will agree about how low self esteem has a large impact on a student's life and what it can lead to.  In the chart 77% males and 92% females’ stated, low self esteem can lead to server depression, self-harming, and suicide. 58% of females stated, they would go talk to a therapist rather than talk to a friend or an adult. I expected the majority of the females would say they would rather talk to a friend than an adult or a therapist because most girls would talk to a friend about her problems in school. Low self esteem does have a large impact on a students' life. Based on the chart, it can come from bullying, home life, and school life. Grades drop, they lose interest, they drift away from friends and then comes the server depression and later, suicide.
Follow up:
In research memo 2, I would like to talk about the 6 types of bullying (physical, verbal, indirect, social, intimidation, and cyber) and which one has an effect on low self esteem and why? I have changed one of my research questions to, how can low self esteem relate to aggression and delinquency? I want to change it because it is a stronger question than "Which one is worse, bullying or Low self esteem?"
